Business Councils – How They Work
Business Councils are one of the innovative ways that the Prince William Regional Chamber of Commerce meets the needs of its nearly 1,200 members.
Like Prince William itself, the Region's Chamber is made up of a diverse range of organizations. To ensure that each of these groups is fully represented in its program of work, each Chamber member is assigned to a Business Councils based on their industry type.
Business Councils discuss issues affecting their industry and measures that the Region’s Chamber could take to address them. When these proposals fit within the mission of the Chamber, the Board looks at the feasibility of implementing them. Thus, Chamber members directly guide the actions of the Chamber and often creates the impetus for responsive new programs.
Business Council Chairs also serve on the Chamber’s Board of Directors, so that the perspective of every industry is represented at the Board level.
