Office buildings have long relied on energy-saving fluorescent lighting, and Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs), which last 10x longer than traditional bulbs, have become all the rage among people trying to their reduce energy costs and carbon footprint.  Still, like all good things, the life of a fluorescent lamp must come to an end.  Then what?  Trace amounts of mecury make it unsafe to throw these bulbs in with other trash, and businesses can be held liable for any leakage due to improper disposal.  While Virginia does not have any hazardous materials Treatment, Storage and Disposal (TSD) facilities, there are many companies that specialize in recycling these lights and offer shipping, collection and other services.  Visit the links below to learn more.
