FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE—

Businesses Recognize Local Heroes

Who Went “Above and Beyond”

This year marked the 24th Prince William Regional Chamber of Commerce Valor Awards, where the local business community honored more than 60 rescue workers who had gone above and beyond the call of duty in 2009, working skillfully and often putting themselves in harm’s way to save others.  More than 400 people were on hand during the March 25 event, held at Foxchase Manor.  The ceremony, narrated by Jim Vance of NBC4, recognized acts of bravery ranging from entering a burning building to facing an armed gunman, and investigative work that makes our community a safer place to live and work.

Valor Awards is also an opportunity for the business community to thank all rescue professionals.  “Looking back at the instances and crises the Prince William region faced throughout 2009, we are reminded of how much we depend upon and appreciate the bravery of our community’s public safety professionals,” said Todd House of Micron and Regional Chamber Chairman of the Board.
