The Region's Chamber opposes efforts to eliminate the dealer discount, which allows retailers to keep a very small percentage of the sales tax they collect to cover the administrative expense of collecting sales tax and providing it to the state. Virginia's FY2011 budget submitted by Governor Kaine before he left office in 2009 would eliminate the dealer discount.
